Lisa J Lawrence – Co-founder, President and designer. Lisa has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in art and design from the University of Alberta. She has managed a variety of rapid growth retail and entertainment businesses in both the fashion and art industries. She has in depth experience in design and is the creator of all the collections for Lawrence Scott Atelier. She oversees all operations and is the heart and soul of LAWRENCE SCOTT INC. Lisa is currently located in Ottawa where she runs a remote team of predominantly of women who have complete autonomy over when and where they work.

Lisa Drader-Murphy designs and produces seasonal collections of fashion and accessories that are of the moment yet enduring and classic in quality and expression of timeless design, all from her 250-year-old sea captain’s estate in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley. Willow Vale Estate, co-managed by her husband, Carey Murphy, also operates as a 5 star boutique resort, boasting multiple spa amenities.

Her label has received extensive international coverage including CNN, New York Times, Entertainment Tonight, BFM Europe, NRJ France, European Vogue, Cosmo, Flare, ELLE, CTV, CBC, SLICE, Canadian Learning Television, Global TV, and has been seen on runways across Canada. Jennifer Love Hewitt, Missi Pyle, Linda Cardellini, and Michelle Rodriguez are among the many celebrities who have selected Turbine for their wardrobes. Se démarquer dans le monde du vêtements malgré la compétition

Philippe Vachon, c’est un peu le Maurice Richard de la bobette. Malgré les nombreux obstacles, les débâcles et les difficultés, il ne s’est jamais arrêté et s’est toujours relevé.

Rêveur comme le petit joueur de hockey, il met sur pause ses études au cégep et se lance en affaires pour la première fois à l’âge de 19 ans avec la compagnie de sports Maverick. Vite sur ses patins, le jeune adulte connaît du succès rapidement. Mais, la puck n’est pas dans le camp de Phil : du jour au lendemain, un incendie emporte Maverick en même temps que son espoir pour une victoire précoce dans le monde de l’entrepreneuriat.

Lui qui considérait retourner aux études accepte une offre d’emploi intéressante à Xerox sans toutefois perdre de vue son rêve. Peu de temps après, un projet stimulant se présente à lui : son ami d’enfance, David Côté-Hamel, désire partir son agence de publicité web. On est alors en 2008. L’entreprise fleurit rapidement, embauche une vingtaine de professionnels et se démarque de sa concurrence. C’est la deuxième expérience entrepreneuriale de Phil. La deuxième saison de notre joueur ne s’augure pas aussi facile qu’il le souhaiterait. Hors de son champ d’expertise, Phil se sent parfois imposteur à l’agence.

En 2010, les étoiles s’alignent et il fait son entrée dans la ligue des grands. Son retour dans le commerce de détail se fait avec Mesbobettes. La compagnie de sous-vêtements masculins se veut un projet-test : les deux entrepreneurs essayeront leur stratégie marketing en ligne.

Phil réalise deux tours du chapeau avec Olivier Dion et la publicité Clic Clic pour le Club MesBobettes. On est alors en 2015 et malgré quelques blessures, Mesbobettes s’en tire bien. Toutefois, le double échec des magasins de la région de Montréal met en péril le futur entrepreneurial de notre athlète. Tenace et persévérant, Phil se retrousse les manches. Avec l’aide de Dave, il restructure et relance la compagnie, crée sa marque de boxers et passe aux Dragons. Depuis, les deux gars ne font qu’accumuler les victoires.

Si Phil est le Maurice Richard des bobettes, c’est bien pour toutes ces fois où il s’est obstiné et a fait preuve de détermination et de courage, tout comme la figure emblématique du hockey. En dépit de la perte totale de sa première entreprise et des nombreuses épreuves connues avec Mesbobettes, l’homme n’a jamais baissé les bras.

D’où lui vient ce trait de personnalité ? Son parcours sportif dans sa jeunesse, ses expériences de capitaine d’équipe. Phil a toujours été un fonceur, un gars qui avait la bougeotte. Président de son école secondaire, il a fait preuve de leadership dès son enfance.

Tout comme Maurice Richard, il ne compte plus s’arrêter. La prochaine étape : conseiller de nouveaux entrepreneurs et devenir investisseur.

Breaking down gender stereotypes with baby clothing

In the winter of 2016, as several of her friends and family members were preparing to give birth, Nancy Caouette was struck by the dichotomy in children’s fashion. She realized most baby and children’s clothing available on the market were pink or blue. Nancy then questioned the impact of fashion on child development, but especially the integration of gender stereotypes. Why are clothes for boys differently cut than girls? Why are certain colours banned for one sex and not for the other, why, why, why?

Growing up, Nancy spent her free time in her family’s sewing studio where she was greatly inspired by her mother’s talents in tailoring. In 2016, equipped with all kinds of fabrics and brimming, as well as her mother’s help, Nancy set about creating unique and personalized pieces for each of the mothers-to-be around her. The enthusiasm was instantaneous. A few days later, she presented her personal project on social media. Charmed by the idea, thousands of users subscribed to her page in just a few hours. From there, The Little Yogi Company was born. Six months later, while the brand was still growing in notoriety, the young entrepreneur left behind her career to devote herself completely to building her company.

Prior to launching The Little Yogi Company, Nancy was a therapist with a degree in Special Education, a bachelor’s degree in Sexology, and a DESS in Perinatal Psychology. Nancy felt she was performing well, but not fulfilled. Her entrepreneurial and creative side was not sufficiently stimulated. With The Little Yogi Company, that has all changed. Today, more than anything else, Nancy and her brand are working to remove gender restrictions. “We are challenging the garment and fashion industry in a positive and constructive way to leave behind a world split in two: princesses or princes. At Little Yogi Company, we believe that colours have no gender! We let kids be kids.” says Nancy Caouette, Founder and President of The Little Yogi Company.
