Tyler Crowdis brews cider for people with Celiac Disease

From the kitchen of their tiny century home, his crafts were gaining many fans through friends and family. Wanting to bring their innovative ciders to the masses, Alicia and Tyler are embarking on a journey to bring craft cider to Calgary and beyond. Inspiration comes from the growing West Coast cider scene to the funky ciders of Northern France and sours of Spain. Do you really know what chemicals are in the beauty products that you use?

Jasmine Marra is the founder of Gypsy+Jasmine a beauty company that has one singular mission; to craft earth inspired beauty products that make you feel pampered and beautiful without compromise. After having children, Jasmine took a keen interest in the ingredients of products that were entering her home as both of her young boys were experiencing terrible skin sensitivities and eczema. Eager to help her children get some relief, she spent hundreds of hours researching and understanding what ingredients were safe for her kids and family. This also allowed her to take a closer look at the ingredients in the products she was using on her own skin. She was shocked to learn about the preservatives, additives and harmful chemicals linked to disease, inflammation and hormone disruption that were found in almost every beauty product she put on her body. It seemed nearly impossible to purchase a beauty product that wasn’t loaded with fragrance or toxins at the everyday drug store. She walked through the aisles of beauty departments with this newfound knowledge, and knew she had to do something. That’s when she founded Gypsy+Jasmine.

Self-confidence is making a commitment to yourself and following it through

Jacqueline Frederick truly believes life is a gift every day. Her goal in life is to always live, laugh, love, and fulfill her plan and purpose. As a personal trainer, she saw the struggle as her clients tried to achieve their goals but experienced setbacks and failures through a lack of self-esteem and confidence – the very same issues she had struggled to overcome herself. Believing that she was not smart or capable enough kept her confidence low and her achievements minimal. Finding the strength to have confidence in herself was a game-changer; she learned that she can trust herself and that she can do anything. Now, she shares that same experience with her clients.

I show them that self-confidence is making a commitment to yourself and following it through. By creating a safe space for being vulnerable, I help my clients shed the weight of other people’s expectations, their own fears and stand with them every step of the way as they power through to their goals.

How One Entrepreneur Has Been Supporting the Canadian Food Industry

Ted Grant was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the son of a “gourmet cook.” Educated at Dalhousie University, Holland College, University of Prince Edward Island, and the Stratford Chefs School, he spent eight years working as a chef in Calgary, London, New York and Toronto. Ted left the professional kitchen to teach at the Culinary Institute of Canada for three years, and while in Charlottetown he joined the product development arm known as Canada’s Smartest Kitchen. He became a leading expert in developing products for the Atlantic Canadian seafood industry, representing brands on missions to Asia, Europe, and throughout North America. Ted’s passion for Nova Scotia and education brought him home to complete his Masters in Education in 2013 and join the Nova Scotia Community College as Director of Hospitality Programming. In 2016, Ted left the college to join Truleaf Plant Science and GoodLeaf Farms as Chief Product Officer. In 2018, he could not resist the opportunity to create his own entrepreneurial dream, co-founding VIVEAU, which works with local farmers in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia to create the perfect balance between fruit and water.

Kelsey Carignan conquered Cancer and thinks you can too

Kelsey Carignan is a mother of two boys and was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 2018 at the age of 32 years old. Kelsey decided to make breast cancer the best thing that ever happened to her and started sharing her breast cancer journey online when she realised there was a lack of relatable and real content available for people going through the same thing. She also started asking people to complete random acts of kindness and to tag her so she could see how much good could come from a negative situation which helped to get her through her lowest points. After undergoing a bilateral mastectomy and eight aggressive rounds of chemotherapy, Kelsey is now in remission and is using her voice and her knowledge to empower and uplift others going through similar experiences with her platform Vibrant Yogi.
